Memorial Day Weekend: Avoid the DUI Task Force
|
Memorial day weekend has been known to be a time where many people party and drink, sometimes irresponsibly. Drunk driving is a big safety concern this coming weekend, and as a result law enforcement agencies across Los Angeles County will come together to conduct DUI checkpoints and DUI patrols to keep the streets safe. Beginning today, Friday, May 26 to Monday, May 30, the Avoid the 100 Task Force will conduct dozens of DUI checkpoints in Los Angeles County cities, as well as increased DUI patrol efforts. In addition, the California Highway Patrol will conduct a maximum enforcement period on the region's freeways, state highways and unincorporated roads.
If a driver is stopped and measures a blood alcohol level above the California legal limit of 0.08 percent, the driver can face a fine of up to $1,800, a suspended license, and mandatory jail time, among other
penalties.
