Rodney King Charged With Driving Under The Influence
|
Rodney King, 46, whose videotaped beating by police led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was charged on Wednesday August 24, 2011 with driving under the influence for which he was arrested for last month in July.
King had admitted to being under the influence of marijuana for medical reasons but denied being under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. His blood-alcohol level was allegedly higher than the legal limit when he was pulled over in Riverside County's Moreno Valley.
If convicted, King faces up to a year in jail because of a prior DUI conviction in San Bernardino County. King is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
Driving under the influence can result in jail time, excessive fines, license suspension/revocation, probation, rehabilitation, community service, and a permanent mark on your record.
